Guide to the Chamber’s new website

Over the past six months we’ve been working diligently to improve the Chamber’s website. Our goal is to make it a more enjoyable, intuitive experience for current and future members. With this guide, we hope to help you make the most of it.

Improved look and feel

The visceral experience is important to us, and we wanted to make sure we represent the Tracy business community with style. With the new chamber website, we aimed to provide a cleaner layout that puts Tracy businesses front and center.

Easier to find what you need

One of our first steps in redesigning the website was to conduct a series of usability tests. By watching chamber members click around on our old website, we were able to learn a lot about what they’re looking for and how we make finding the info they need a more intuitive experience. We’ve reorganized our content based on what we learned (visible in the new menu structure), and we rolled out an improved, more granular search capability to help you easily find the info you need.

Improved event calendar

One key lesson we learned from the usability tests was that many visitors come to the Chamber website to find out when and where future events will be taking place. With that in mind, we revamped our event calendar, making it more visually intuitive and improving the search function to help you find specific events.

Improved business directory

When redesigning the website, we wanted to make sure it was easy for visitors to find your business listing in our directory. To that end, we simplified the interface to make it easier to search by category or keyword.

Resources just a click away

Over the past year, the Chamber has rolled out its blog to help provide resources that address challenges that Tracy business face. With this redesign, we recategorized the content and improved the layout to make it easier to find the resources you care most about.

All our programs in one place

We put all the Chamber’s major programs in one place to make it easier for you to see what we’re up to and let us know when you’d like to get involved.

Secure online purchasing

We put a lot of effort into making it easier to join the Chamber and buy tickets for upcoming events through our website. Not only is this new shopping cart interface more intuitive, but we have encrypted all traffic on the Chamber website (see the little lock icon in the URL bar) to ensure all transactions are safe and secure.

And, of course, we still answer the phone

If all else fails and you can’t find what you’re looking for, we put the Chamber’s contact info and social media links at the bottom of each page. Please do reach out. We would love to connect.

So, what do you think?

We view the website as a “living document” of sorts. It’s the virtual storefront for Tracy’s business community, and we believe it deserves ongoing attention and improvement. Please let us know what you think of the site through the poll below. We’re already working on a set of “phase II” improvements, and your input will help us prioritize and drive those future improvements.
